Obituary for Joanna Urban (Dubianski)

Joanna  Urban (Dubianski)
WATERVLIET – Joanna Dubianski Urban, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Born in Wysowa, Ukraine on April 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George and Emilia Swyst Dubianski. At the age of 5, Mrs. Urban emigrated to the United States with her family and settled in Albany. Following her marriage in 1951 to Aksenty Urban, she moved to Watervliet and resided on 24th Street for many years. She has resided in North Carolina for the past two years to be closer to her son Peter.
She was employed by the Albany Felt Company for over 30 years before retiring in 1982. She was also a homemaker and was a communicant of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ukrainian-American Citizens Club in Watervliet.
She was the beloved wife of the late Aksenty Urban who died January 25, 2011, loving mother of Peter J. (Debra) Urban of Cary, NC, grandmother of George (Christine) Henning of Durham, NC, great grandmother of Nicholas Alexander Henning.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:00 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 9:30 am at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Maplewood. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 pm with the Parastas service at 6:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Church, 2410 4th Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189.
