Obituary for Mark Edward Valentine Sr.
TROY, NY – Mark Edward Valentine, Sr., 55, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 18, 2015 at home.
Born in Troy, Mark was the son of the late Frank and Henrietta (Sweeney) Valentine. He was raised in Greenwich and graduated from Greenwich High School before moving to Cohoes and later to Watervliet. He most recently lived in Troy.
For most of his life Mark enjoyed working as a diesel mechanic and a truck driver, careers which brought him much enjoyment.
Over the years he was employed by Adams Bulk in Schaghticoke, K-C Refrigeration Transport in Troy and Escro Transport Ltd in Guilderland.
In his earlier years Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing, hobbies he taught his son to enjoy. He also taught his son how to shoot a gun, throw a ball and turn a wrench.
Mark was loved by his family and friends and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie (Steven) Welch of Gloversville and Mark (Melody) Valentine, Jr. of Cohoes; the mother of his children, Monique Valentine of Cohoes; his grandchildren, Anastasia Valentine, Aidan and Avery Welch, Jasmine Valentine and Hannah Brand and his best friend Frank Adams.
A service for Mark will be held on Thursday at 1:30 PM in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet and interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke, NY. A visiting hour will precede the service on Thursday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the funeral home. All are invited to attend.
