Obituary for Mary Ann Kennedy (Paley)

HALFMOON – Mary Ann Paley Kennedy, 83, formerly of Watervliet, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Albany on March 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Alice Cooper Paley. Mary Ann was raised in Watervliet and was a 1952 graduate of Watervliet High School where she was the class valedictorian. She attended Albany State prior to her marriage to John.
She later was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal and the VA Hospital in Albany. She then was a homemaker raising her two children before returning to work for the NYS Dept. of Agriculture. She has been a resident of the Clifton Park area for the past 45 years.
She was active at one time with the former First Presbyterian Church in Watervliet where she taught Sunday school. Mary Ann was very devoted to her husband and family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of John H. Kennedy; devoted mother of Colonel Jay (Cathy) Kennedy, USMC of Swansboro, NC and Susan (Austin) Kolbert of Salem, NH; adored grandmother of Christopher (Jaimie), Brendan (Mallory) and Robert Kennedy, Alyssa, Jillian and Brynne Kolbert; great grandmother of Emerson Kennedy; dear sister of Eleanor (Jerry) Sokaris of East Greenbush and the late Louis (Patricia survives) Paley and Thomas (Mary Lou survives) Paley. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Friday from 10:30 am – 12 noon. The funeral service and interment will follow privately at the convenience of the family.
