Obituary for Gayle Karen Varin (Twogood)

Watervliet - Gayle K. Varin, 70, of Watervliet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 06, 2016. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Earl Twogood and Goldie Sweet.
Growing up in the Pittstown area, family was always the most important aspect of Gayle’s life. From a young age, she quickly became the matriarch of her family, leading those she cares so much about. The love she had for her family will never be forgotten.
Gayle leaves behind 5 loving children; Regina Varin of Colorado Springs, Valerie Maroncelli of Clifton Park, Tracy (Michael Messore) Varin of Latham, Roger (April Thomas) Varin, Jr. of Cohoes, and Melissa (Scott) Burr of Arizona. Her memory also lives on in 11 adoring grandchildren; Dustin (Nicole) Bashford, Kyle Bashford, Kari (Donald) Martin, Mariah Maroncelli, Amie (Tony) Pontari, Michael (Amber Mitchell) Gibson, Kayla Messore, Amanda Varin, Roger Varin, III, Blake Burr, and Brittany Thomas. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Gayle was preceded in death by her 4 sisters; Shirley Twogood, Carol Lewis, Doris Hoag, and Ramona Billings, by 2 nieces; Sandra Billings and Judy Christensen, and recently by her partner and friend, Jeremiah Nelson.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 5 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Friends and relatives may visit with Gayle’s family before the service, from 3 until 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Gayle in a special way may make a donation in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
