Latham- Jane Ihnatolya, 92 years old, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 with her family at her side at the Teresian House in Albany.

Jane was born in Williamstown, PA, the daughter of the late Nicholas Palczuk and Xenia Turchin Palczuk and wife of the late John Ihnatolya. She was a graduate of Williamstown High School in Pennsylvania.

During World War II she worked with her father at the Baltimore Navy Shipyards in Curtis Bay from 1943 to 1945. In 1945 she took employment with Montgomery Ward and Company in Baltimore and then transferred, in 1946, to the Menands, NY store until 1947. In 1950 she started working at Norton Company (Behr-Manning) and in 1985 retired after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Norton Retirees Club.

While her sons attended grade school at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic School in Watervliet, she was very active in the PTA. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet; was a past member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church Choir and past president (for 2 years) of the Ukrainian American Auxiliary. She was an active member of St. Nicholas’s Our Mother of Perpetual Help Society that visits the sick and shut-ins parishioners.

She enjoyed crocheting many beautiful Afghans for family and friends during her life. After retirement she became a member of the Colonie Senior Citizens which enabled her to explore her talent in oil-painting and to give many of her beautiful paintings to family members and friends. Along with her husband she enjoyed trips to Topsail, NC with her Brother (Charlie) and Sister-in-Law (Eleanor) and Cape Cod, Mass.

She will be remembered as a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother (Baba) and great grandmother. She always put her family first.
She was a very spiritual person, who always prayed for someone through Novenas and saying her rosaries. Mom, you are now in God’s Glory, “Alleluia”.

Survivors include her sons, Jack (Meg) and Joe (Shirley); her grandsons, John (Beth), Nicholas (Annemarie) and Joseph (Christine) and her great grandchildren, Will and Olivia, Patrick, Liberty and Emily, and Jillian and many nieces especially Mary Goetz (their flower girl) and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Harris and brother, Dr. Nicholas Charles Palczuk (Charlie).

A special thanks to Dr. James Walders from Community Care Physicians for his many years of compassionate care. To the staff on the 4th floor B Wing at the Teresian House, the family would like to say thank you for the comforting care they provided Jane and her family during her time there.
