Obituary for Carmen Anthony Julian
Latham – Carmen A. Julian, 93, of Latham, entered eternal rest on Saturday morning, September 10, 2016. Born in Watervliet and raised in Latham, he was the son of the late Ralph and Antionette Julian.
Upon graduating from Watervliet High School in 1942, Carmen then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in the Construction Battalion, also known as the “Seabees”. Upon returning home from duty he began working for the Golub Corporation, working there for 50 years until his eventual retirement. Shortly after signing on to work there, he met and married the love of his life, his late wife Carmella Vicedomine. Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2012.
When not hard at work, Carmen could often be found playing 18 at many local golf courses, cheering on his Yankees, or planning family dinners. He also had a love for music, playing gigs at nightclubs with his band “The Rhythm Makers”, where his trumpet licks earned him the nickname “Ace”.
Carmen is survived by his two daughters; Anita (Bill) Van De Mark of CT, and Dianne Sillery of Schenectady, by four grandchildren; Joanna (James) Landgrebe of CT, Nathan Van De Mark of CT, Elaine (Jordan Laccetti) Sillery of Latham, and Jaclyn Sillery of Latham, by his two great-grandsons; Timothy and Christopher Landgrebe, his sister; Josephine Bond of Watervliet, and also by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving wife Carmella, he was also preceded in death by their son, Michael Julian, and by three of his siblings; John Julian, Mary Nicoll, and Carmella Rinaldi.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave Ext., Albany, at 11 AM. Interment to follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Carmen’s family from 4 until 7 PM on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Bowen and Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The American Heart Association, 4 Atrium Dr. #100, Albany, NY 12205, or The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
