Obituary for Marion F. Zanghi (Kania)

Latham – Marion Zanghi, 87, entered eternal rest on Friday morning, December 23, 2016. Born in Watervliet in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Viola Kania.
After graduating from Watervliet High School, Marion went on to further her education at Siena, SUNY Albany, and Boston College, receiving a Master’s degree in both education and in Russian. Her years after graduation found her traveling and working in different parts of the world, including working at the Hahn Air Base in Germany, and traveling to Ireland with her close friends.
After returning to the states she met the love of her life, her husband Leonard Zanghi, and together they shared 51 years of marriage. Her happiest moments came from gardening, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Other than her loving husband, Marion is also survived by their daughter, Kathleen Emory of Clifton Park, by their grandchildren, Donald Emory and Aaron Emory, and by several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Genevieve Grabowski, Isabelle Koskey, Edward Kania, Helen Tkacz, and John Kania.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 9 A.M. at the St. Ambrose Church, Latham. Friends and relatives may visit with Marion’s family on Tuesday evening, from 4 until 7 P.M. at the Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. The family would like to extend a very special thank-you to the staff at Riverside Center for Rehab and Nursing for their above-and-beyond care of their beloved Marion.
