Rensselaer, NY – Robert Colket Schupp, 82, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, December 30, 2016, following a long illness.
Mr. Schupp was the devoted son of the late John L. and Elizabeth Colket Schupp. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gertrude (Cowie) Schupp; his loving children, Elizabeth S. Lins of Baltimore, Maryland, Robert C. Schupp, Jr. (Helen) of Bolton Landing, NY, Edmund J. Schupp, Sr. of Menands, NY and Robin S. Pugliese (David) of Rensselaer, NY; his devoted grandchildren, William Lins, Sr., Lauren Lins, Robert C. Schupp, III, Kristy Schupp, Edmund Schupp, Jr., Ian Schupp, Christian Schupp, Minnie Schupp, David Pugliese and Elizabeth Pugliese; his cherished great-grandchildren, William Lins, Jr., Leah Lins and Ava Lins; his dear brother, Louis Schupp (Barbara) of Newtonville, NY and dear brother-in-law, Dr. Edmund W. Cowie (Janice) of Clifton Park, NY.
Mr. Schupp was born on August 26, 1934 in Albany, NY and had resided in Loudonville and Bolton Landing before moving to Rensselaer in 2000. He was a graduate of Albany High School and Colgate University, Class of 1956, where he was a member of Colgate Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon. Mr. Schupp operated Schupp’s Auto Body in Albany NY, a business founded in 1866 by his great grandfather, William L. Schupp. The business initially focused on the construction and repair of horse drawn carriages and wagons and later on the repair of automobiles.
Mr. Schupp was a life member of Wolferts Roost Country Club in Loudonville, NY, was a former member of the Watervliet Lodge of Elks and was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Albany, NY.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at 11 AM in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 107 State Street, Albany, NY. The Reverend Paul J. Hartt, Rector, will officiate. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, NY. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with the Schupp family on Tuesday, January 3, 2016, from 4 until 8 PM, at the Bowen & Parker Brothers Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY.
