Obituary for Marie Elizabeth "Betty" Sedefian (Kizirian)
Watervliet – Marie Elizabeth Sedefian, known lovingly by many as Betty, died on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Born in Troy, Betty was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Kenosian) Kizirian. She was raised and resided in Watervliet until the age of 15 when she moved to Armenia. She returned to Watervliet in 1966, with her family, and resided there for most of the rest of her life.
Betty was dedicated to the care of her family and her home. She loved her family all of whom filled her with much pride. Betty devoted the last years of her life to volunteering and assisting the senior community at the Beltrone Living Center in Colonie where she met and made many wonderful friends.
She was the loving mother of Leon Sedefian and Greg Sedefian both of Malta; cherished grandmother of Gregory F. Sedefian, David S. (Alisha) Sedefian, Zachary B. Sedefian, Justin Sedefian, Derek S. Sedefian and the late Eric Sedefian; proud great-grandmother of Logan Sedefian; sister of Ernest Kizirian (Nadia); aunt of Armen Kizirian. Also survived by several friends and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted, by the Reverend Stepanos Doudoukjian, on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10AM in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Entombment will follow in the Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
Friends are invited and may also visit with Betty’s family on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 3 until 6 PM at the funeral home.
To those who wish to remember Betty in a special way, contributions may be made to St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church, P.O. Box 196, Watervliet, NY 12189.
