Obituary for Helen May Rosekrans (Burdick)

WATERVLIET - Helen May (Burdick) Rosekrans died peacefully the afternoon of
Feb. 22, 2017. Born in Troy NY, on July 30 1935, she was the daughter of the late
Eugene P. Burdick and Evelyn May (Gibbs) Burdick Clark and stepdaughter of Mary
(Pierce) Burdick. She attended Grafton and Troy schools before earning her GED
as an adult later in life.
Helen had several local jobs before finding her passion as a Daycare Provider for
Albany County. For more than 20 years, she was devoted to the many children for
whom she cared. She was also a volunteer at St. Peter’s Church where she helped
with bingo and church bazaars.
She married the love of her life, William, on November 2, 1957. Together they
shared 56 wonderful years before his death. They raised four children, enjoying
Sunday drives to get ice cream, family picnics, annual "big" trips, and holiday
gatherings, as well as, Saturday evening cards games.
Helen’s greatest joy was her family. She was proud of all her grandchildren and
cherished time spent with her great-grandchildren. She could often be found in
"her chair", at the kitchen table, the telephone nearby ready to chat with family and
friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Walders and Dr. Robert Benton, as well as
The Community Hospice for their care and compassion.
Helen was the loving mother of Diana H. (Keith) Miller of Saratoga Springs, NY,
William R. (Sherry) Rosekrans, II of Johnsonville, NY, Steven V. Rosekrans (Bob
DeFelice) of Rochester, NY and Margaret E. (Fred) Lennox of Las Vegas, NV; cherished
grandmother of Kevin, Erik (Nikki), Kaitlyn (Jonathan), Christopher (Claire), Janice
(Matthew), Crystal (Ned), John (Jessica), Betty Jo (David), Shane (Melissa), Justin
(Ashley) and Christian (Ashley); devoted sister of Peg Keenan (late Chuck) of
Grafton, NY, Arthur (Diane) Burdick of Skaneateles, NY, John (Cathy) Burdick of Valley
Falls, NY, Donald (Pam) Burdick of Brunswick, NY, Mary Ann (Jay) Hoffay of Poestenkill, NY,
Robert (Sharon) Willett of Speigletown, NY and the late Eugene (late Gladys) Burdick, Jr.
and Charlotte Cichacki whose husband John of Middle Falls, NY survives. She is also
survived by 16 adored great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
