Obituary for Rosalie May Hoosier

Watervliet – Rosalie May Hoosier, 57, of Watervliet, passed away Saturday morning, March 4, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. Born in Albany in 1959, she was the daughter of the late Earl Hoosier, Sr. and Georgene (John) Pratt of Soldotna, Alaska.
Rosalie grew up in Albany and was a 1977 graduate of Albany High School. Following graduation she worked for several different companies in both Albany and Philadelphia. Once she moved back to Albany from Philadelphia, she began working for Greens Office Supply which then became RJ Gile Co. and was employed there as a secretary for 25 years until her retirement in 2010.
Rosalie was a social butterfly who always seemed to know someone wherever she went, always greeting everyone with a friendly smile. The same smile was always shining whenever she spent time with her loving grandchildren who truly meant the world to her. Her favorite days were the ones spent in the company of her family and friends. Other than her family, her second love was for game shows. Rosalie could often be found outbidding the contestants on The Price is Right, buzzing in on Family Feud, or watching anything on the Game Show Network. Rosalie will be remembered for her tender, devoted, and effervescent personality by all who were lucky enough to have known her.
Besides her mother, Rosalie is survived by her two children; Samuel (Rebecca) Rivera, Jr. of Clifton Park, and Valerie Rivera of Watervliet. Her memory also lives on in her six grandchildren; Hannah Rivera, Haley Tankersley, Arianna Devoe, Jacob Devoe, Cadence Devoe, and Samuel Rivera, III, her three siblings; Earl (Marianne) Hoosier, Jr., of Saratoga Springs, Mark (Marjorie) Hoosier of Glenville, and Carolyn Hoosier of Cohoes, and her niece and nephews; Charles “Chuck” McIntyre, III, Tyler Hoosier, Savannah Thyrring, and Kevin Hoosier. Rosalie was preceded in death by her longtime friend, the late Samuel Rivera, Sr.
A funeral service for Rosalie will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 6:30 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Rosalie’s family for an hour before the service, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM. Interment will take place in Memory Gardens, Colonie, on Saturday morning, March 11, 2017 at 10 AM.
