Obituary for Anthony J. "Tony" Medici Sr.

WATERVLIET – Anthony J. Medici, Sr., 87, died peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Watervliet on June 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Cosimo and Maria Bracciale Medici.
A lifelong resident of Watervliet, Tony worked on the railroad and later for the Behr-Manning Co later the Norton Co. He was employed by the City of Watervliet in the Water Department for over 20 years before retiring in 1993.
He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society and assisted at the annual bazaar. He was a member of the Italian Community Center Bocci League and was a Watervliet Democratic Committeeman. He enjoyed trips to the casino’s and Saratoga Race Course and loved playing sports with his grandchildren.
He was the beloved husband of the late Frances M. Waddington Medici who died April 21, 2016; devoted father of Anthony J. (Barbara) Medici, Jr. of Mt. Holly, NC, Rose M. Hooey and Joan (Gregory) Roberts both of Watervliet; proud grandfather of Anthony J. (Laura) Medici, III, Brian (Jennifer) Medici, Tina (William) Minehan and Michele St. Andrew; great grandfather of Ava, Jacob, Nathaniel, Rachael, Emmett, Michael and Joseph; brother of the late Carmen Medici, Mary Colarusso, Antoinette Liburdi and Dorothy Melite. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet. Interment Memory Gardens, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm.
