Obituary for Linda J. Kawola (Tedesco)

LATHAM – Linda Joan Tedesco Kawola, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 28, 1946 to the late John A. and Sophie (Powanda) Tedesco at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy.
Linda graduated from St. Nicholas Catholic Grade School in Watervliet in 1959, Catholic Central High School in Troy in 1963 and from St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. She married William J. Kawola, the love of her life, on July 2, 1967.
Linda was employed as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy from September 1, 1966 to 1979. She then was employed at Certified Allergy & Asthma Consultants for 29 years, becoming head nurse of their Clifton Park office until retiring in April 2008. She began part time employment for Dr. J. Michael Purcell until her recent illness in November 2016.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham and was a member of their Pastoral Care Team. She belonged to the Caddyshack Golf League at Mill Road Acres in Latham and enjoyed skiing with family and friends for many years as well as many vacations at Long Beach Island, NJ and Milford, CT. She and her husband enjoyed traveling abroad and to many destinations in the USA.
Her greatest joy in life was her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as her beloved siblings and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband William J. Kawola for 49 years; her daughters, Ellen M. Foley and Suzanne M. Kawola both of Guilderland; grandchildren, Lauren S. Foley, Joseph E. Foley, Kara G. Foley, Eliot J. Kawola and Sylvie G. Kawola all of Guilderland; her siblings, Frederick J. (Lorrie) Tedesco of Helena, MT, James E. Tedesco of Maplewood and Laureen M. (Michael) Krage of Latham as well as many loving and dear nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 9:15 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham. Interment will be at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 4-7 pm.
