Obituary for Jerry Earl Maynard

Berlin – Jerry Earl Maynard, 67, of Berlin, passed away on April 10, 2017. Born in Hoosick Falls, he was the son of the late Earl and Margaret Maynard.

Jerry grew up in Berlin and always had a hard-working mentality, even in his younger days. Starting as early as age 14, he entered the workforce and dedicated himself to any task in front of him. Local businesses benefitted from his work-ethic, including WJ Cowee and Green Renewable, Inc. When not hard at work, Jerry could be found working on or riding his motorcycles, cheering on Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr., hunting, or in his workshop tinkering with his woodworking skills. Most important to him however, was the time he spent with his adoring grandchildren, to which he was affectionately known as “Papa”. Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor that could fill any room with smiles.

Jerry is survived by his sons; Joey (Risa) Maynard and Jason Maynard, his grandchildren; Khara, Joey, Jordan, Ariel, Logan, and Addy, his siblings; Amos Jones, Donna (late Charlie) Corbin, Donnie Maynard, and Kevin Maynard, his best friend Judy Maynard, to which he was married for 33 years, as well as by several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenny Maynard.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 15 at 2 P.M. at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh. Friends and relatives may visit with Jerry’s family before the service, from 12 P.M. to 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Parker Bros. Memorial to assist with funeral expenses, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, NY 12189.
