Sheffield - Russell W. Gale, Sr., passed away at his home on April 16, 2017.He was the son of the late Manley and Dorothy Ward Gale. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who passed away after a long fought battle with cancer.

Russell worked for 34 years as a stationary engineer for Crane and Co. in Dalton, MA. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting with his sons, brothers, and friends throughout New England and Canada. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Sandy Dame Gale of Sheffield, MA, his sons; Russell Gale, Jr. of Stephentown, NY, and Matthew Gale of Holland, MA, his granddaughters; Sonja (Jose) Rodriguez, Samantha (Charlie Osterhout) Gale, his great-grandchildren; Kristopher Gale and Avery Rodriguez, brothers; Donald (Sue Ann) Gale of RI, Robert (Karen) Gale of CT, Edward (Wanda Popielarczyk) Gale of CT, sisters; Marjorie Upright of RI, and Susan (Chris) Wymen of FL.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, at 11:00AM at Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY-43, Stephentown. Visitation before the service, from 10 until 11 AM. Burial will follow in Hancock Cemetery. A reception for family and close friends will be held at the Jiminy Peak Resort following the services.
