Peter S.  Iannacone
LATHAM – Peter S. Iannacone, 90, died peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, June 1, 2017 with his family at his side. Born in Watervliet on November 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna M. Del Santo Iannacone. Mr. Iannacone was a graduate of Watervliet High School and was Student Council President from 1943-44. He acted in varioius high school plays and the senior play.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving from 1944-46 in the Pacific Theatre as a radioman. He graduated from Siena College in 1950 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Modern Language.
He was employed by the Shoemaker Paper Company in Cohoes and Latham where he was the Vice President and Secretary before retiring in 1990.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Asssumption Church and was a member of the Latham Knights of Columbus. He was involved with the Triune Musical Company in Latham from 1959-1973.
Peter enjoyed fishing, hunting, biking, swimming, walking and landscaping/gardening around his home.
He was the husband of the late Josephine W. Bol Iannacone who died in 2006; beloved father of Stephen P. (Martha) Iannacone of Delmar, Jean Hewig (Ronald Cutler) of Stuyvesant Falls, Nancy Iannacone (Charles Menzel) of Saratoga Springs and Peter S. Iannacone, Jr. (Jessica Hennen) of Nashville, TN; devoted friend of 10 years of Mary Orr of Latham; proud grandfather of Arthur (Karen) Hewig, Sarah (Stephen) Francomano, Karl Hewig, Lynne (Jay) Grugan, Susan (Eric) Engelbarts and Nicolas (Grace) Mazzei and is survived by 10 great grandchildren; brother of the late Joseph (late Mary) Iannacone of Watervliet. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:15 am from the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham and at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Geoffrey Burke, Pastor. The interment with military honors will be on Tuesday at 9:30 am at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 pm.
In lieu of flowers and due to cemetery restrictions, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
