Obituary for Joan F. Mahoney (Fleet)

ALBANY – Joan Fleet Mahoney, 79, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes with her sons at her side. Born in Rensselaer on March 1, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Agnes Matthews Fleet.
Joan was a graduate of Rensselaer High School where she was her class salutatorian and was a majorette. She was employed by the New York State Attorney General’s Office prior to working as a bookkeeper in her late husband’s law firm, Daniel H. Mahoney Attorney at Law in Albany. She and Dan raised their seven children in Albany and summered on Upper Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. In her retirement she would spend winters at her residence in Islamorada Florida.
She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel H. Mahoney who died in 1995; loving mother of Steven D. (Roxanne) Mahoney of Speculator, NY, Deborah Mahoney of Lake Placid, FL, Laurie (John) Kramer of Ocean Ridge, FL, Daniel G. (Amy) Mahoney of Voorheesville, Leslie J. Mahoney of Albany, George D. (Kathy) Mahoney of Guilderland and the late John L. Mahoney; sister of Susan Adams and Mary Clements both of North Greenbush. Joan is also survived by 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private at the request of the family. The interment will be at St. John’s in the Wilderness Cemetery in Lake Clear, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s in the Wilderness Church, c/o St. Bernard’s Church, 27 St. Bernard’s Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
