Obituary for Alba Di Carlo (De Santis)

Latham- Alba Di Carlo, 63, of Latham NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 19th 2017. Alba was born on December 21st 1953 in the picturesque town of Castelgrande, province of Potenza, Italy. She is the daughter of the late Filomena and Gerardo De Santis. Alba is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Felice Di Carlo, her precious daughters Carmina F. (Anthony) Velten and Lisa F. Di Carlo, her precious grandson Anthony R. Velten Jr., her sister Rosetta DePaola of Fort Lauderdale, FL, niece Carmela Freund of Northfield, NJ, and nephew Giovanni DePaola of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by her aunt Lucia (late uncle Alfonso) Masi, cousins Vito Masi, Rosetta Masi, and Gina Gilbeau, her aunt Assunta Masi of Venosa, Italy, cousins Rosalba De Paola of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Rosetta Belli of Webster, NY, Lucia Caputi of Phoenix, AZ, and many other cousins in Italy, Canada, Vermont and Connecticut. She also had many nieces and nephews she cared for dearly.



Alba had a life-long passion for cooking, she enjoyed cooking many meals for her family. She had many hobbies and interests such as planting flowers, tending to her garden, painting and knitting. She was also a lover of antiques and she loved to spend time antiquing with her daughters and her sister. Alba was an expert in watercolor, many of her beautiful paintings are displayed around her home. She was a lover of the arts and enjoyed many art museums around the country. Her favorite place to be was by the ocean side. She loved spending time on family vacations at the beach in Fort Lauderdale and many summers in Margate, NJ and Long Beach Island.



Alba graduation from Linton High School and obtained an Associate’s Degree from Schenectady Community College. She retired from New York State Department of Health after 20 years of service, where she was a cherished employee and referred to as the glue that kept the department together.



Family and friends are invited to a gathering for her remembrance on Sunday, July 23rd between the hours of 3-6pm at Bowen & Parker Brothers Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Rd. Latham, NY 12110. A funeral mass will be held 10am on Monday, July 24th at St. Ambrose Church in Latham, followed by a procession to Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
