John R. "Jack"  Wilson Jr.
SCOTIA – John “Jack” R. Wilson, Jr., 74, formerly of Watervliet, died peacefully Saturday evening, September 9, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Watervliet on May 12, 1943, he was the son of the late John R. and Ruth Doherty Wilson, Sr.
Jack was raised and educated in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School. He resided in Watervliet until 2000 when he moved to Scotia.
He was employed by Georgia Pacific Paper Mill (formerly St. Regis Paper Mill) in Scotia for over 30 years before retiring 11 years ago.
He enjoyed fishing reading, watching golf on TV and was an Boston Red Sox fan.
He is the beloved husband of Marie-Jeanne Blais Wilson whom he married in 1975; devoted father of Rodney J. (Beth) Wilson of Marcy, NY, Ronda J. Wilson of Schenectady and Jeffrey M. (Danielle) Wilson of Cohoes; “Poppy” of Lauren, Adam, Luke, Aiden and Cade; brother of William Wilson of Pennsylvania, Merry Lou Davis of Loudonville and the late Bonnie Williams. Jack is also survived by a loving niece, Heathermae Kaminski of Scotia and several other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Jan and the staff of Community Hospice of Schenectady for the compassionate care given to Jack.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
