Obituary for Anne F. Tower (Facteau)

TROY – Anne Facteau Tower, 81, died peacefully Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Born in Albany on May 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Katherine Heffernan Facteau.
Anne was raised and educated in Troy and attended St. Paul's Grammar School and Catholic Central High School. She was a graduate of the College of St. Rose in Albany with a BS degree in Nursing.
She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, Eddy Visiting Nurses Association as a Community Health Nurse Supervisor for 30 years, and by Adept Health Care in Troy as a Nursing Supervisor for 10 years before retiring.
Anne spent her life in service to others less fortunate. She was an early advocate for and caregiver to people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as those with Alzheimer’s disease. She was an active communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy.
She is the devoted and loving mother of Mary D. (Russell) Matteson, Ellen K. (Clayton) Bradt, Jean E. (Daniel) Mackay, John A. (Mimi) Tower, Paul G. Tower, James E. Tower and Michael J. (Meredith) Tower; much-loved grandmother of Cornelius, Aaron and Anne Marie Bradt, Jonah and Ben Mackay, Delia and Liam Tower, and great grandmother of Sirona and Cobain Matteson; dear sister of James (Annette) Facteau, Jean (Dan) Mahoney and Katherine (Craig) Cioffi. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by John “Tony” Tower and her infant son, John Joseph Tower.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy on Sunday, October 1 from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 2 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will be at a later date at St. Henry’s Cemetery, Averill Park.
