Obituary for Eileen A. O'Brien (Donahue)

LATHAM – Eileen A. Donahue O’Brien, 81, died peacefully Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Big Indian, NY on September 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James and Katherine Martin Donahue.
Eileen was a graduate of Onteora Central School. She was employed by NY Telephone Company in Kingston for 10 years as an operator. She lived with her family in New Jersey for a short period before moving to Latham in 1967 where she raised her three sons. She returned to work at Shaker High School in Latham as a hall monitor from 1985-2000 before retiring.
She enjoyed spending her summers on Burden Lake, gardening and tending to her flowers, and taking care of her animals.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Pierce F. O’Brien, DVM who died in 1981; loving mother of John J. (Laura M.) O’Brien of Valley Falls, Eric F. (Jennifer) O’Brien of Schaghticoke and Lance J. (Carolyn) O’Brien of Latham; adored grandmother of Alexandra, Danielle, Christian, Emily, Colin, Peyton and Larkyn O’Brien; sister of Daniel (Priscilla) Donahue of Ramsey, NJ; aunt of Jonathan and Jordan Donahue.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham on Sunday from 1:00-2:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 2:30 pm with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Her ashes will be interred on Tuesday at 1 pm at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Troy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
