Obituary for Leja I. "Lee" Sharp (Wood)

STEPHENTOWN, NY – Leja “Lee” I. Sharp, 87, died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Irma Seaman Wood.
The daughter of a minister, Lee lived in Canada, Buffalo, and Amsterdam, NY. She moved to Stephentown in 1961. She was a horse woman and started a 4H Riding Club. She gave riding lessons and helped young girls through the riding club.
She was a chef and cooked at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Chatham and the Great Barrington Nursing Home. She also cleaned homes and did housekeeping at the Gould Farm in Monterey, MA.
Her quiet grace and incredible strength were an inspiration. She will be sorely missed, but we are thankful that she is at peace.
She is the beloved mother of Michael P. Sharp of Bogata, Columbia, Gary A. (Margo) Sharp of Stephentown and Bonnie (Brian) Sheridan of Durham, NC; grandmother of Benjamin and Brendan Sheridan, Matthew (Emily) Sharp, Katharine (Matthew) Von Brook, Michael (Claudia), Andrew (Cathy), Lily (Jimmy) and Victoria Sharp, and step-granddaughter Jessica Bressette, and is survived by 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her former husband Lewis Sharp. She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Wood, Jr.
The funeral service will be Saturday, November 4th at 1 pm at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown, NY with a calling hour prior to the service from 12-1 pm.
