Obituary for Stefan Spiak

WATERVLIET – Stefan Spiak, 68, died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his home. Born in Zdynia, Poland on January 2, 1949, he was the beloved son of the late Pawel and Paraska Demczar Spiak.
At the age of 16, Steve came to the United States with his family and settled in Watervliet. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
He was employed by the former Troy-Built Gardenway Mfg. in Troy for over 30 years and presently by the Ross Valve Co. in Troy since 2001 as a manufacturing engineer. He specialized in CNC machinery programming, introducing new products into production and designing fixtures for the manufacturing process.
He was a communicant of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to his camp on Sacandaga Lake, hunting and helping anyone who needed a hand.
He is the brother of Maria Kunze of Poland and the late Julia Wasienko; brother in law of Andrzej Wasienko of Watervliet; proud uncle of John Spiak of Northville, NY, Anna (Kenneth) Hoover of Cedar Park, TX, Maria (Matthew) Bartolini of Wakefield, MA and Beata Kunze of Poland; great uncle of Matthew Spiak, Isaac, Benjamin, Gabriel, Luke and Peter Hoover, Elijah and Henry Bartolini and the late Jacob Spiak; best friend of Bill (Faith) Conroy of Watervliet.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Maplewood. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 pm with the Parastas service at 6:30 pm.
