Obituary for Nathaniel Hume Walker Jr.

Scotia – Nathaniel Hume Walker, Jr., of Scotia passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning, October 30, 2017, with his loving daughter Heather by his side. Born in Staten Island on January 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Nathaniel Sr. and Margaret Walker.
Nathaniel worked at Ellis Hospital as a maintenance man for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a history buff who enjoyed reading up on World War II. Although he could be stern, he also had a soft spot for his family and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. He also loved his pets and often donated to many causes that help animals.
Nathaniel is survived by his four children; John Walker of Clifton Park, Cathy (Michael) Lathrop of Fremont, NE, Heather Walker of Glenville, and April Walker of Schenectady, his three grandchildren; Samantha (David) Nieman of West Bend, WI, Grace (Grant) Siekman of Omaha, NE, and Greggorey Walker, his dear friends and caretakers who were like daughters to him; Raina Stefanchik and Karie Nasser, and his 2 adored cats; Taz and Sammy. Nathaniel was preceded in death by his two late wives; Pamela Heinemann, and Marilyn DeGiglio. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the members of Community Hospice for the comfort their father received while in their care.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10 AM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, with interment to follow in Albany Rural Cemetery. Visiting will be held Friday evening, November 3, at the funeral home, from 5 until 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nathaniel’s memory may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204, or to the Community Hospice: Gift Processing, 315 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
