Obituary for Fred Alan Campbell

Troy – Fred Alan Campbell, 52, of Menands, passed away on November 13, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. Born in Hudson Falls on June 3, 1965, he was the son of the late Donald and Patricia Campbell.

Fred grew up in the Hudson Falls area and following high school graduation, enlisted in the United States Air Force. A 22-year career in the military brought him and his family all over the world, including Italy, Spain, England, Germany, and various parts of the USA. Once he retired from the Air Force he began working at the Watervliet Arsenal, where he was still employed at the time of his passing.

When not at work Fred could be found hunting, fishing, working on his house or cars, or spending time at his father’s camp in Minerva. While these things brought him much joy, nothing made him happier than spending time with his family that he loved and cared for so much. Fred had a sense of humor that could brighten any room and he will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Christine (Johnson) Campbell, their three children; Virginia Campbell of Rochester, Jeremiah (Brianna Welch) Campbell of Zephyrhills, FL, and Emily (Zack) Watkins of Waterford, his two grandchildren; Dominic Watkins and Leo Campbell, and his two siblings; Valerie (Loren “Sully”) Campbell Sullivan of Glens Falls, and Steve Campbell of Ithaca, as well as by many nieces, nephews, family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017, from 1 until 3 PM at Bowen and Parker Bros Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham, followed by a funeral service at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Fred’s memory to The United Service Organization, PO Box 96860 Washington, DC 20077-7677.
