Obituary for Anna Urban

WATERVLIET – Anna Urban, 88, entered into eternal life on December 19, 2017 at the home of her son while surrounded by her loving family.

Anna was born in Zdynia, Lemkivszczyna on November 24, 1929 and was the daughter of Petro and Maria (Hlywa) Urban. She resided there for a many years before she immigrated to the United States in June of 1966 and settled in Watervliet.

Anna was employed by the Albany Felt Company and later the Tek Hughes Corporation in Watervliet from where she retired in 1982. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary there. She enjoyed participating in church events and especially enjoyed helping to make Pyrohy (Varenyky) for the annual church Pyrohy sales. She was also a member of the Lemko Organization.

Anna enjoyed spending time with her family and growing flowers in her garden.

She was the beloved wife of the late Mikolaj Urban; loving mother of Maria (George) Hanke, Melania (John) Suchowacki and Peter (Teresa) Urban. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Anna’s funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 am in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watervliet where Reverend Mikhail Myschuk will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Friends are invited and may also visit with Anna’s family on Friday from 5 until 7 pm at the funeral home during which time the Panakhyda will be held at 6:30 pm.
