Obituary for Charles O. "Charlie" Sedgwick

Charles O. "Charlie"  Sedgwick
WATERVLIET – Charles “Charlie” Owen Sedgwick, 68, died suddenly Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home in Watervliet. Born in Albany on April 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Owen and Margaret Close Sedgwick.
Charlie was a lifelong resident of the Port Schuyler section of Watervliet and attended Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes and graduated from Watervliet High School, class of 1967.
He was employed as a machine operator for Albany Steel Co. for 20 years and later for 30 years by American Steel in Albany which later became Samuel Son Steel before retiring in April, 2015.
Charlie enjoyed fishing and camping at Summit Lake in Argyle. He also enjoyed trips to the Saratoga Racino and having coffee and chatting with his brother Owen on the weekends.
He is the beloved father of Michael S. Sedgwick of Watervliet, Theresa “Terri” B. (Robert) Welsh of Latham, Jason M. Sedgwick of Green Island, Eric J. Sedgwick and Charles O. (Amy) Sedgwick, Jr. both of Watervliet and is survived by their mother, Elizabeth “Liz” Sedgwick of Watervliet; proud grandfather of Devon (Amy Apple) Sedgwick, Kyle Sedgwick, Taylor (Jordan Jones) Sedgwick, Jacob and Ryan Sedgwick; great grandfather of Stephen, Caleb and William Sedgwick; dear brother of Owen (Jean) Sedgwick of Watervliet and Robert Sedgwick of Salem; brother in law of Mary Sedgwick of Mechanicville. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 9:30 am at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Rev. John F. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm.
