Obituary for Scott R. Whitsett

LATHAM – Scott R. Whitsett, 55, died suddenly in his sleep on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his home in Latham. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Rufus Wayne and Anita Owirka Whitsett and was raised by his great aunt, the late Helen Caddle.
Scott was raised in Plymouth, MA and was a graduate of Plymouth High School. He was a US Navy veteran during the invasion of Grenada. He lived in Germany and moved to Latham in 1988.
He currently was employed as a salesman with Skyworks Aerial Lift Rentals in Troy.
Scott was very involved with the Latham Lassies Girls Softball League serving as a coach and board member for over 12 years. He also was very proud of his Lithuanian heritage and was involved with Camp Neringa, a summer camp for children of Lithuanian heritage.
He was a trustee of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham and was very involved in theatre production with his daughters. Scott also coached and played volleyball in Germany and Latham and was a huge Boston Sports fan.
He is the beloved husband of Kathleen R. Knauf Whitsett; devoted father of Jennifer (David) Williams, Heather and Amber Whitsett all of Virginia, Jordan and Hayley Whitsett both of Latham; brother of John Kenneth Whitsett of St. Augustine, FL. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Friday at 10 am at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham with Pastor Janet James officiating. Interment will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Thursday (today) from 4-7 pm.
