Obituary for Daniel Edwin Sell

Latham – Daniel Edwin Sell, 90, of Latham, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 12, 2018. Born on July 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Byron and Ada Sell.

Daniel was born and raised in Altoona, PA. After high school graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army. Daniel went on to further his education, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Juniata College, earning his Master’s Degree in Foreign Relations from the University Chicago, and graduating from Columbia Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor degree with high honors. Daniel went on to practice corporate law in Manhattan for 40 years.

Throughout his life, Daniel placed his family above all else. He is survived by his two sons, Daniel E. Sell, Jr. of Latham and John E. (Zhaohui Li) Sell of Los Altos, CA; his two grandchildren, Tian-Tsi Florence Sell and Tian-You Su Sell: his brother Carl E. (Nancy) Sell of Wilton, CT; and by many loving nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Florence E. Sell, who passed away in 2008; and by three siblings, Byron, Virginia, and Helen.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Bowen and Parker Bros Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
