Obituary for Bette J. Healey (Kenific)

WATERVLIET – Bette J. (Kenific) Healey, 93, beloved wife for 61 years of the late Thomas K. Healey, entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.

Bette was the daughter of the late John E. and Rose (McConville) Kenific. She was born, raised and educated in Albany. During World War II, Bette was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal. She married her husband Tom on June 26, 1948. Following their marriage Bette and Tom settled in Watervliet and Bette dedicated herself to her home and to raising her family. She later went to work for the New York State Retirement System retiring after 20 years of service.

Bette was a member of the former St. Brigid’s Parish in Watervliet where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was a member of the Schuyler Park Welfare Society; a Campfire Girl leader and enjoyed Sunday night bowling with the Schuylerettes Bowling League. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Bette was pre-deceased by her loving son, Thomas J Healey; her siblings, Ardith LaBarge, Jacqueline Gaddor and John Kenific. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kathleen (D. Kirk) Morgan of Latham and Maureen (Robert) Welch of Wynantskill; her grandchildren, D. Kirk (Cortney) Morgan, T. Zachary (Natalie) Morgan, Kara Suzanne Morgan (Andrew Cameron), S. Eric (Katie) Morgan, Erin (Justin) Abbott and Eileen Welch; great-grandmother of Healey Grace Morgan, W. Kirk Morgan, Grace E. Morgan, Thomas Z. Morgan, Wilhelmina A. Morgan, Rosemond A. Morgan, Andrew M. Cameron, Olivia Grace Abbott and Ellie Jane Abbott. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A special and heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of House 4, Eddy Village Green, for the compassionate and loving care provided to our mother for the past four and one half years.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend John F. Tallman on Friday at 9:30 am in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7th Avenue and 25th Street, Watervliet. Entombment will follow in St. Agnes Mausoleum, Menands. Friends are invited and may also visit with Bette’s family on Thursday from 4 until 7 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial in Watervliet.
