Condolence: Sincere condolences to Pat and all of Jim's family and friends. I was fortunate enough to work with him at the SP Academy and found him to be truly professional, highly competent and always respectful to those with whom he had contact. When he was elected Albany County Sheriff I commented that the state police had suffered a huge loss and Albany County achieved a huge gain. I am sorry I am out-of-state and unable to personally pay my respects. Rest in peace, Jim.

Condolence: I was saddened to read of Jim Campbell‘s passing. We served on opposite sides of the criminal justice system for most of our careers. Despite that professional opposition, he was always warm, friendly, and receptive whenever I called. Jim was a man who’s decency was immediately apparent. He never suffered the arrogance of power and position. He took your phone calls, and treated opponents with the same consideration and respect that he did others. If you met Jim Campbell, you liked him. He was one of those guys to whom people responded regardless of how well or little they knew him. It felt good to tell out of town attorneys that this sheriff would take their calls and treat them with genuine concern and respect Jim Campbell was a good and decent man who gave his life to public service. He touched many lives and tried to make them better. His sense of fairness and justice inspired others to aim higher. We are poorer for his passing. We have lost a very good man.
