Obituary for Mafalda A. "Molly" Iachetta

WATERVLIET – Mafalda A. “Molly” Iachetta, 80, died peacefully at her home at the Hanratta Apartments on Thursday, May 3, 2018. Born in Manhattan, NY on October 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Yolanda Procino Iachetta.
Mafalda was raised and educated in the New York City area and was very proud of her catholic education and upbringing. She was employed by the Equitable Life Insurance Company in NY.
She moved upstate in 1985 with the help of her cousin Mary Anne and settled in Schenectady, living in a small apartment on Union Street. For the past 18 years, she has resided in the Hanratta Apartments in Watervliet. She was a very independent woman, who enjoyed trips to Rite-Aid, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald’s and riding the CDTA bus.
Mafalda had a love for nature and animals and possessed a great knowledge of classic movie and movie stars.
She is the cousin of Joseph (late Doreen) Iachetta, Rose Murphy, Mary Ann (Charles) Kilcullen and the late Philomena (late Joseph) Ostwald and the late Sr. Rosemarie Iachetti, RSM. She is also survived by several other cousins and second cousins.
Rosemary Ostwald would like to thank Alice Brown, all the caregivers from Community Hospice and all the strong women who stepped forward to help Mafalda.
Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Monday from 4-6 pm; with a funeral service at 5 pm with Rev. David Jones. Her ashes will be buried with her mom on Wednesday at 1 pm at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Queens.
