Obituary for Claude Andrew Duval

Cherry Plain – Claude Andrew Duval, 74, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 9, 2018. Born in Newcomb, NY on July 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Aldege and Mildred Duval.
Claude was a 1962 graduate of Berlin High School. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Sandra Adams, whom he married on August 28, 1965. Together they started a family and shared 52 blissful years of marriage. After high school, Claude enlisted in the US Navy. He served as Engineman Third Class on a tour that brought him to Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Upon returning home from service, Claude worked for 30 years as a supervisor with EnCon in Cherry Plain. He also worked at General Electric, the Watervliet Arsenal, and Zwack Inc. in Stephentown. When not at work, Claude enjoyed helping around the house, mowing the lawn, doing puzzles, and playing poker. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His greatest joy later in life was spending time with and looking after his adored grandson, Kyle.
Claude is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Duval of Cherry Plain, his children; Kimberly Nair of Meridian, Idaho, and Jason (Dena) Duval of Berlin, his grandchildren; Kyle Duval and Joelle Grossman, his siblings; Leo (Pat) Duval of Florida, Ida Teal of Grafton, Shirley (late Irving) Mason of Grafton, Joyce (late Leo) Valliere of Wilton, Lillian Buchanon of Westport, and George Tefoe of Petersburgh, and by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Louis Duval, Daniel Tefoe, and William Tefoe.
A visitation will be held Monday, May 14, from 4 to 7 PM at the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, Stephentown. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 15, at 10 AM at Hall and Higgins Funeral Home.
