PETERSBURGH – Cory J. Thompson, 62, died suddenly, Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after being stricken at home. He was born in Bennington, VT on February 12, 1956, the beloved son of the late Albert E. and Jean A. Grogan Thompson.
Cory was raised in East Hoosick and attended Hoosick Falls Central School. He was employed as a furniture woodworker along with his father Albert at Cushman Furniture in Bennington, VT and Manchester Wood for many years.
Cory enjoyed playing golf and bowling in Bennington. He was a Dale Earnhardt #3 NASCAR car racing fan. Every Friday, he went with his father to the Blue Benn Diner in Bennington where they enjoyed their fish dinner.
He is the loving brother of Kelly J. LaPerle of Latham, Keith D. (Tina) Thompson of Cambridge, Colleen M. (Mike) Hafner of Petersburgh and the late Daniel A. Thompson; proud uncle of Shelby Lee, Ryan Thompson, Tabitha Paddock, Tanya Santolin, Dylan and Taylor LaPerle and Melissa Hafner. He is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, June 16th at 11:00 am at the Hoosick Cemetery, 545 South Street, Hoosick with Pastor Jonathan Youngmann of the Community Alliance Church officiating.
