WATERVLIET – Virginia Jean Grieco Cifello, 75, died peacefully Monday, June 18, 2018 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Troy on July 1, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Robert R. Grieco and Marie (Caruso) Grieco Varley and stepdaughter of the late William L. Varley.
Jean was raised in Watervliet and graduated from Watervliet High School, class of 1961. She was employed by Union National Bank in Troy from 1961-1967 in the proof department. Following the birth of her son, she was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She also volunteered and fundraising for LaSalle Institute while her son Richie was a student. She was a member of the Watervliet Senior Citizens and ran the Wii Bowling League at the center with her husband Dick. She loved crafts and visiting craft fairs.
She is the beloved wife of 55 years of Richard J. “Dick” Cifello; loving mother of Rich Cifello of Clifton Park; sister in law of Anthony and Fred (Marge) Cifello. She is also survived by one niece and one nephew.
Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Thursday from 11:00am-12:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 12:30 pm with Deacon Al Manzella officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Watervliet Senior Citizens Center, 1501 Broadway, Watervliet, NY 12189.
