Obituary for Russell C. "Russ" Winner

LATHAM – Russell C. Winner, 66, died peacefully Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with his family at his side. Born in Cortland, NY on May 19, 1952, he was the son of the late Harry and Ardene McMullen Winner.
He was raised in Schenectady and attended Linton High School and later Schenectady County Community College where he studied Culinary Arts. He was employed at Conifer Park as a chef for a few years. He later became a corrections officer with the NYS Dept. of Corrections for over 22 years before retiring due to illness in 2012. He served at Sing Sing, Camp Beacon, and Greene and Hudson Correctional Facilities.
Russ was a member of the Duanesburg Florida Baptist Church. He enjoyed trips to the casino, movies, QVC and his man cave. He loved his dogs, Sandy, Gizmo, Skipper, Gilligan, Frost, Lady and Bo and his many birds.
He is the beloved husband of 29 years of Pamela A. Paris Winner; devoted father of Timothy, Matthew and Joshua Winner all of Latham; brother of Ruby Morrell, Harriet Barton, Randy, Carol, Danny, Ronnie, Niles and Harry Winner, Jr.,Thelma Salisbury, Donna Abbott, Ruby Crandall, Nancy Haley, Kathleen Lints, Linda Tidball, Pauline Edwards and the late Donald Murray, Ruth Lansing and Janet Nicol. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to his nieces, Trish and Alissa for their support and love and for always being there for Russ and Pam.
Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Wednesday from 4-7 pm followed by a service at 7 pm.
