Obituary for Theresa Jean "Terri" Miller (Hanbury)

Theresa Jean "Terri" Miller (Hanbury)
COLONIE - Theresa Jean Miller, known as Terri to almost all (though her favorite title was Lady) left us this week...hopefully to join again with all those that she loved that went before her. In addition to all of you with tears in your eyes reading this she leaves behind a legacy of strength and love in her daughters Megan and Alyx, memories of the best Lady on the planet with Calvin, Melody and Jayce, and lasting love for her dearest friends, Sara, Marilyn, Gay, and Timmy.

Her brother, grandmother, husband, and her father left us before her.

Born in Albany on November 26th, 1958 she came into this world already a fighter, at 3 months premature.

She attended Sacred Heart School in North Albany as a child and attended and graduated from Shaker High School in 1978.

She married in 1979. In 1980, she had a daughter, Megan.
Then she re-met John in the 90s...they had known each other in grade-school....
And in 1995, to the suprise of every single one of us, she had another daughter, Alyx Jessie.

She and John were Fire and Ice. And in so many ways, almost perfect together. They had over 20 years on this planet, and Alyx in between. It was the first time she knew what Family really was. They were together until his death in 2014. She withstood that with grace and dignity too.

Her most cherished moments in life though, were the 3 days her grandchildren were born. 1st, came Calvin, who instantly became one of the loves of her life. Following Cal, three years later was Melody...her spunky little blond with blue eyes that Papa affectionately called Cheeks. Her heart was complete at the birth of her 3rd grandchild, Jayce, her little buddy in 2015...as he was the child of her youngest daughter.

She had all she ever wanted.

Terri's life was tough. In fact, it was excruciating at times for her. Everyone who loves her knows that. But what they also know is how big her heart was, how bright her spirit was, and how much she loved. Yea, you absolutely knew when she was angry with you. But you knew even more when she loved you.

She taught Alyx and I how to love.
She taught us almost everything we know.
The only thing she didn't teach us was how to live without her.

She is Alyx's rock. She is my very first best friend.

We thank you all for your messages and condolences and love. Our family couldn't make it through this without you all.

Mommy was one of a kind. There will NEVER be another like her.

Friends are invited to visit with Terri's family on Friday from 12 noon until 1:45 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial in Watervliet. A brief service will conclude and interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie.
