LATHAM – Dorothy Nazarian Giunta, 94, died peacefully in her home in Latham on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 with her family at her side. Born in Troy on May 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Agajan and Verkina Tabakian Nazarian.
Dorothy was raised in Watervliet and graduated from Watervliet High School. She has been a resident of Latham for the past 64 years.
She was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II making gun barrels, Roxy Cleaners, worked for her brother John at the Lucky 13 Tavern in Watervliet and last with her son Jerry as the office manager of Double J Automotive in Latham.
Dorothy enjoyed trips to the casino, was an avid New York Yankees fan, and above all, cherished her time spent with her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Charles Giunta who died in 1969; beloved mother of Nancy M. (Carl) Haverly of Colonie, Carmen Giunta and Jerry (Maria) Giunta both of Latham; adored grandmother of Gina (Kevin Laraway) DePaulo and Jason (Julie) DePaulo both of Colonie; great grandmother of Andrianna Laraway, Anthony and Ava DePaulo; sister of the late Andrew (Nettie) Nazarian, John (Sonya) Nazarian and Marion (Alex) Arghanian; extended family and mother figure to George Sisco, Donald D’Angelus and Anthony Chayka. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mamdani, Dr. Benton, Dr. Silk, 5th floor at Samaritan Hospital and the 4th floor at the Eddy Heritage House for the wonderful care given to our mother.
The funeral service will be Monday at 9:30 am at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Interment Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter Armenian Church, PO Box 196, Watervliet, NY 12189.
