Obituary for Matthew S. Alaxanian

Matthew S.  Alaxanian
HALFMOON – Matthew S. Alaxanian a much cherished husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Albany Medical Center embraced by the love of his family. He was 49 years old.

Matt was born in Troy on April 14, 1965 and was the son of proud parents Mike (Mickey) and Marion (Mroz) Alaxanian. He grew up in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School and SUNY Brockport where he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree. Over the years Matt had also resided in Cohoes, Latham and most recently in the town of Halfmoon.

He was employed for 22 years as a store manager for Advance Auto Parts and worked in several Capital Region stores.

Matt was a car enthusiast, loved sports, and was an avid Miami Dolphins football and Oakland Athletics baseball fan. Above all else he cherished nothing more than the time he spent with his family.

Matt was the much loved husband of Lisa Riley Alaxanian to whom he was married on September 18, 1993 at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh; he was the cherished dad of twin daughters, Jessica and Ashley Alaxanian; the brother of Daryl (Mara) Alaxanian; and the proud godfather of Eric Riley and Gavin Heider. Matt was uncle to nine nieces and five nephews.
Matt’s family offers a heartfelt thank you to all of his doctors, nurses and to the entire staff at Albany Medical Center for taking such good care of him over the past eight months.

Friends are invited to visit with Matt’s family on Tuesday from 3 until 7 PM at the Parker Brothers Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and remain for a service which will be held at 7 PM. Interment will be private.
