Obituary for John Edward Nicoll

John Edward  Nicoll
LATHAM – John E. Nicoll, 64, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.

Born in Troy on November 20, 1951, John was the son of the late John C. and Winifred (Smith) Nicoll. He resided in Latham for most of his life and was a graduate of Shaker High School and Hiram College in Ohio. John served his country, as an officer, in the U S Navy and served aboard the USS Manley (DD940). Following four years of service, he was honorably discharged on January 9, 1978 and returned home to Latham.

John was employed, for several years, by KeyBank as a computer systems operator and retired from there due to illness.

He was a life-long member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, William Scot Nicoll. He is survived by several cousins and friends.

A heartfelt thank you is offered to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Eddy Village Green, Building 19, for the care given to John during his stay.

A service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday in the Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham. Committal service and military honors will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 PM. There will be no public visiting hours at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home in Latham, with whom John’s final arrangements have been entrusted.
