Obituary for Theresa A. Gildersleeve (Guerin)

Latham – Theresa A. Gildersleeve, 73, of Latham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Born in Port Henry, NY on June 25, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Albert (Joseph) and Doralice Guerin. Theresa grew up in Port Henry, and was a 1962 graduate of Port Henry High School. After high school she moved to the Albany area. It was there that she met her husband, Donald B. Gildersleeve, who passed away in 2013. They lived together in Albany and Saratoga, eventually settling down in Latham for the last 40 years.
Theresa spent her professional career working for the State of New York, in both the Department of Motor Vehicle and the Department of Labor. She worked hard to provide for her family, and always put her children first. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, gardening, and cooking, but nothing made her happier than spending time with family and friends. Theresa is survived by her two children; Judith Gildersleeve of Latham, and Steven Gildersleeve (Matthew David Rogers, partner) of Washington DC, her two grandchildren; Alexander and Victoria Gildersleeve, her siblings; Leona (late Edward) Dauphin of Mechanicville, Moe (Bunny) Guerin of Ticonderoga, Sue (late Fred) Millias of Mechanicville, and Ernie (Debbie) Guerin of Port Henry, and by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Owen Gilbo and Elizabeth Hadden for their help and support.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 11 until 1 PM at Bowen and Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Those who wish to remember Theresa in a special way may consider a donation to a charity of one's choice.
