Obituary for Gail Patricia Blanchard

Troy – Gail Patricia Blanchard, 72, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with her loving family at her side.

Born and raised in Troy, Gail was the daughter of the late Leo and Violet (Rhondeau) Blanchard. She was a graduate of Troy High School and had been a resident of Whitehall for 12 years. Following her marriage, Gail devoted herself to raising her family and was a stay-at-home mom. She later took employment at the Doyle Middle School in Troy where she worked as secretary in the attendance office for ten years. She once again focused on her family and helped to raise her cherished grandchildren. Her last employment was as an office assistant with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services in Rensselaer from where she retired.

Gail loved the times spent with her family and enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing her computer games.

She was the much loved mother of Michael Christiansen, Aaron Christiansen, David Christiansen all of Troy, Scott Christiansen of Long Beach, CA, Rebekah Collins (Gary Bennett) of Troy and Cassandra Vascherault (Arthur) of Cohoes; cherished grandmother of Andrea, Derek, Kierstin, Kylee, Justin, Kaleb, Taylor, Jhena, Joshua, Brandon, Courtney, Hailey, Hunter, Allyssa and Mason; adoring great-grandmother of Ayden, Carson, Sara, Emmalynn, Abbigayle, Josh, Jr. and Arabella; dear sister of Betty Rehm, Elaine Christiansen (Don), Mary Crowley, Phil Blanchard and the late Tim Blanchard. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of Gail’s family.
