Janet A. Pontore (Casale)
TROY – Janet A. (Casale) Pontore, 86, passed unexpectedly from this life on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at her home.

Janet was born in Troy, NY on January 17, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Frances (Gotto) Casale. She had resided in Watervliet for many years before returning to Troy in 1979.

Janet dedicated the majority of her life to raising and caring for her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her heart with pride. She enjoyed being with each of them as often as she could. Her home had a door which was open to all and at any given moment her family and friends would visit to have a wonderful conversation and an even better meal. Janet loved to cook and her family and friends benefitted by her talent. Her care extended to her pets and to the wild animals in her backyard. She truly had a heart of gold and her passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of those who loved her.

Janet was a long-time communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Troy.

She was the much loved mother of Nettie, Joey, Janice, Mike, Marianne, Frank, Margie, John and the late Tony and Kathy; the dear sister of Katherine Gregaydis, Mary Sontz and the late Marie Rita Cooper; dear friend of Rose DiBiase. She is also survived by 23 cherished grandchildren, 19 adored great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved dog, Roxy.

Janet’s funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Troy. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet.
