Obituary for Daniel Patrick DelTorto

Daniel Patrick DelTorto
WATERVLIET - Daniel Patrick DelTorto, 66, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018. He was the dearly beloved son of Elizabeth A. Pascale DelTorto of Watervliet and the late Thomas F. DelTorto.
Dan was born in Troy, New York in 1951 and later lived in Watervliet and Colonie. However, his heart was firmly planted in Luca’s Barber Shop at 2411 Third Avenue. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School in Watervliet, LaSalle Institute in Troy and Western New England College in Springfield, MA.
Shortly after graduating college in 1973 he began working for the New York State Legislative Bill Drafting Commission where he remained, progressing through the ranks, until his retirement as Director of Senate Revision in 2007. His time at the LBDC led to many deep and lasting relationships – his dear friends Joe D’Aprile, Joe Degnan, Dave Marcy, Jerry Sullivan, Paul Weafer and Tom Vinter, and his former wife and mother of his children, Deborah DelTorto.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind the children he adored. His daughter Maribeth and her husband Dr. Michael Wallace of Maryland and his son Thomas DelTorto of Colonie; his three most adorable grandsons, Brandon, Ryan and Dylan Wallace; his loving sister Elizabeth and his very dear companion Margaret Fitzgerald. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday at 12:30 pm from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 1:00 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard Donovan, OFM, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the mass from 11:00 am-12:30 pm.
