Obituary for Robert J. Rogers Sr.

BRUNSWICK – Robert J. Rogers, Sr., 79, died peacefully and went to join his wife Joan in heaven on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. He was born and raised in Bennington, VT, the son of the late Ralph and Florence Clark Rogers.
While he lived in Bennington, he was employed as a chef at the Paradise Restaurant and the Vermont Steak House. He later moved to Troy and was employed as a pressman at the former William’s Press in Menands until it closed. He then was employed by Price Chopper in Lansingburgh and later by Boyd Printing in Albany before retiring.
He was a member of the Bennington Eagles and the Graphic Arts International Union. Bob enjoyed working around his home and was meticulous about his lawn. He loved playing golf and had a “hole in one” at the Sycamore Country Club in Ravena. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to host family parties at his home.
He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. Pouchak Rogers who died on March 23, 2018; devoted father of Robert J. (Peggy) Rogers, Jr. of East Greenbush; proud grandfather of Eric (Derek) Rogers of North Greenbush and Brittany (Joe Melius) Rogers of Averill Park; great grandfather of Garrett Joseph Waters; brother of Joan Rogers Morse, Danielle Rogers Cornell, Donald and Susan Rogers and the late Patricia Ogilvie, Jeannette Damon, William, George, James, Francis, Ralph, Roy, Thomas and Teddy Rogers; brother in law of Peter (Beverly) Pouchak of Cohoes. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters in law and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Friday at 10 am at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment Memory Gardens, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
