Obituary for William A. Fuchs

West Lebanon – William A. Fuchs, 51, of West Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 27, 2018. Born in Albany on January 2, 1967, he was the son of the late William G. Fuchs, and Jane E. Thompson of East Nassau.
Will grew up in West Lebanon and was a 1985 graduate of New Lebanon High. After graduation he joined the US Navy, serving as a Machinery Repairman aboard the USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41), which at the time of its maiden voyage was the largest amphibious ship in the fleet. Once returning home, Will worked for several local companies while attending Hudson Valley Community College, including, Zwack, Inc., MC Mold and Tool, and the Watervliet Arsenal. Once he earned his Associate’s in Machine Technology while graduating at the top of his class, he put his degree to use and began working as a Machinist at General Electric in Schenectady. When not hard at work, Will could often be found doing what he loved most; riding the trails on his dirt bikes and snowmobiles. Will was at his happiest with the freedom of an open trail in front of him.
Will is survived by his mother, Jane Thompson of East Nassau, his three siblings; Frederick (Michele) Fuchs of Greenport, Elizabeth (Tom) Pinkowski of Stuyvesant, and Jon Fuchs of West Lebanon, and by his dear nieces and nephews; Lauren, Tyler, Christopher, Emma, and Jackson, by whom he was lovingly referred to as ‘Uncle Zeeky’. He was preceded in death by his father, William G. Fuchs.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 2 until 4 PM at Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, Stephentown. A service will follow the visitation at 4 PM at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors will take place Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:30 AM at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery.
