Obituary for James Paul Matan

LATHAM - James “Jimmy” Paul Matan, 58, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home. Born in Albany on December 30, 1959.
Jimmy was raised and educated in the Capital Region and has been a resident of Latham since 1982. He started his career as an auto mechanic where he was well known for his auto body work. He later learned the trade of refrigeration by his guardian, Ronald Russett, and worked along side him until he started his own business, B&B Refrigeration, which he successfully ran for many years.
Jimmy married the love of his life Karen Lynn Matan on April 27, 1985 in Latham and went on to build a family with their two daughters, Michelle and Meghan Matan. He enjoyed boating and camping with his family at Brant Lake in the Adirondacks. He had absolute pride in being able to support his family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Karen Lynn Matan who passed in 2013; devoted and loving father of Michelle Lynn Matan of Baldwinsville, NY and Meghan Elizabeth Matan of Latham, NY; son of Susan Wilkes Matan; brother of Jay Doherty of Jefferson, MD, David Matan of Princeton, NY, William Matan of Latham, NY and the late Robert Matan and Patricia Parisi Matan. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Bowen & Parker Brothers funeral home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham on Monday from 6-7 pm followed by a service to celebrate his life at 7 pm.
