Obituary for Maryllis A. Bodnar (Sole) Capra

WATERVLIET -Maryllis A. Bodnar (Sole) Capra, 71, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with her devoted family by her side.

Maryllis was born in Troy on March 20, 1947 and was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Kucskar) Bodnar. She was a longtime resident of Watervliet where she was educated at the former Sacred Heart of Mary School. She was a 1965 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy.

Maryllis was employed by Russell Sage College, as a secretary, for 19 years following which she worked, as office manager, for Creighton Manning Engineering, LLP in Colonie from where she retired.

Maryllis was a former president and member of the Rosary Society of the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet and was a member and secretary of the Civil War Buffs. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Maryllis had many loves in life but none were as special as the love she had for her grandchildren, all of whom filled her heart with much pride.

Her family offers their heartfelt thanks to the staff of C-1 at Ellis Hospital for the wonderful care given to Maryllis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Sole and her brother, William Bodnar, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Capra, Sr.; her children Mark (Kim) Sole and Kristin Sole; her step-children, Michael F. (Tammy) Capra, John (Nancy) Capra and Joseph Capra, Jr.; her grandchildren, Zachary, Megan and Madison Sole, Enrique and Mateo Sole as well as several step-grandchildren; her sister, Dolores (William) Connelly; her brothers, Robert Bodnar, Dean (Anne) Bodnar and Mark (Carol) Bodnar as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with interment to follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Friends are invited and may also visit with Maryllis’ family on Sunday (today) from 4 until 7pm.
