Obituary for Theresa M. Sadowski (Grzywa)

WATERVLIET – Theresa M. (Grzywa) Sadowski entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the age of 88.

Born in Buffalo, New York on May 16, 1930, Theresa was the youngest of seven children born to Francis and Julianna (Janik) Grzywa. She spent her formative years in Buffalo and later moved to Watervliet following her marriage to her husband Chester P. Sadowski who died in 2007.

Theresa dedicated her life to her family and her home. She enjoyed helping her neighbors and being creative through needlepoint, crafts and ceramics. She was a faith-filled woman who had, for many years, attended the former St. Brigid’s Church in the Port Schuyler section of Watervliet. Above all else, Theresa’s family was first and foremost in her life and she provided each of them with her love. She will be missed by them and by everyone who knew her and loved her.

She was the much loved mother of Paul F. Sadowski (Christine Jordan), Cynthia M. Davies (William) Susan S. Benoit (Paul) and Steven T. Sadowski (Kristen); cherished grandmother of Sara Thompson (Ed), Ryan Davies, Hannah Hulett (Jason), Danielle Davies, Sean and Aaron Benoit, Nicholas and Owen Sadowski; loving great-grandmother and “Mimi” of Julia, Emma, Cora, Blake and Ethan. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A funeral service will be held for Theresa on Saturday at 10:30 am in the Cummings Funeral Home, 643 Third Avenue, Watervliet. The Rite of Committal and entombment will follow in St.
Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Friends and neighbors are invited to attend and may also visit with Theresa’s family on Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 10:30 am.
