Obituary for Janet Frances Wells (Herrington)

WATERVLIET – Janet Frances (Herrington) Wells, 71, died peacefully Saturday evening, April 13, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with her loving family at her side.

Born in Troy on January 10, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene Herrington. Janet was raised and educated in Troy and returned to school in the early 1990’s and received her high school diploma from Troy High School. She moved to Watervliet in October of 1992.

She was employed by Ground Round in East Greenbush and Vanderheyden Hall before becoming a homemaker. She returned to work at Ames Department Store in Troy and most recently was a photo technician at the former Eckerds Pharmacy in Watervliet.

Janet loved being with her family. She liked to assist with fundraisers for cancer, enjoyed police and crime TV shows and disaster movies, and loved all genres of music. She loved playing with all of her grandbabies and spending time with her best friend Sadie Mae.

She was the wife of the late James A. Wells, Sr. who died in 2015; loving mother of Rebecca J. (Toby, Sr.) Moses of Tennessee, James A. (Candance) Wells, Jr., Christopher C. Wells (Emily Macie) and Wendy L. (Arthur) Grant all of Cohoes and Sarah K. (Timithy) Lee of Watervliet; adored grandmother of Toby, Jr, Tyler (Jordan), Timothy (Heather), Tucker (Angel), Cierra, Maddison, Zoey, Myah, Natalie, Madalyn, Roy, Haley (Raymond Sawyer), Abigail, Arthur V, Sadie, Kathleen and Ronan; great grandmother of Lauretta, Sophiya, Rosemary, Hazlie “Frankie”, Alice, Leah, Grace, Harper and one on the way; dear sister of Brenda (George, Jr.) Coghill, Terry (Bruce) Kearns, William Herrington, David Herrington, Mark (Debbie) Herrington, John (Michelle) Herrington, Scott Herrington and the late Wayne Herrington and Linda (late Bernie) Horton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Thursday from 4-6 pm followed by the funeral service at 6 pm.
